Delicious homemade Peach Crisp topped with Vanilla Ice Cream. Fresh sweet peaches with the crumbly topping make this mouthwatering dessert absolutely perfect.
4large fresh peachespeeled and sliced (or about 8 cups thawed frozen peaches)
1cupall-purpose flourdivided
1cuppacked light brown sugardivided
1teaspooncinnamondivided
½teaspoonalmond extract
¼teaspoonground nutmeg
½teaspoonvanilla extract
¼teaspoonkosher salt
1cupsliced almonds
½cupunsalted buttercut into 1/2-inch cubes
Vanilla Ice creamoptional
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375 degree F.
In a large bowl, combine 2 Tablespoons of flour, 1/3 cup light brown sugar, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, almond extract, nutmeg, vanilla extract and salt. Mix until combined. Fold in fresh peaches, gently. Spread evenly in a shallow 2 quart baking dish. Set aside.
In large bowl (I used the same bowl) combine the remaining flour with 2/3 cup light brown sugar, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon and almonds. Mix gently. Add butter cubes and combine with a pastry cutter (or hands) until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle over peach mixture.
Bake for 35-40 minutes, until bubbly. Serve topped with Vanilla ice cream, if desired.
Notes
Can be Gluten free if you choose a gluten free flour.
After baking, wrap tightly (using foil baking pan or transferring to freezer safe container) and freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator and heat in a 350 degree oven for about 20 minutes before serving.
This is delicious with or without the sliced almonds. You could swap the almonds for pecans if you prefer! Add oats if you skip the nuts.
